Deuteronomy 5:29 O that there were such an heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children for ever!

That is God's desire. But He said we did not have the 'heart' to keep His commandments. The Clergy often say, We can't keep the Law. But Jesus solved the problem by 'nailing' it to the cross. The Law is done away in Jesus.

If that is so, them would not it follow that we still have the old sin full heart?

A New Heart

Ezekiel 11:19 And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh:

Ezekiel 18:31Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will ye die, O house of Israel?

Ezekiel 36:26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.

It looks like God's solution is to give us a new heart. To illustrate this concept; to restate Deuteronomy 5:29 (I will put a new) heart in them, (so) they (will) fear me, and keep all my commandments always, (and it will) be well with them, and with their children for ever!

Question 22: When Jesus came he solved the 'can't keep the law problem' by.

Jesus solved the problem by 'nailing' it to the cross. The Law is done away in Jesus.

In the The 'New Covenant' Jesus gives a new heart making it possible for us to fear God, and keep all His commandments always, so it will be well with us and with their children for ever..

What do you think?; Does 'for ever' mean 'for ever', i.e. eternal life? Is the promise of eternal life implied in these verses when God says 'for ever'.

Yes.         No.
