Micah 4
1. But in the last days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of
the house of the LORD shall be established in the top of the
mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall
flow unto it.
2. And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the
mountain of the LORD, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he
will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law
shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.
3. And he shall judge among many people, and rebuke strong nations
afar off; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their
spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up a sword against
nation, neither shall they learn war any more.
4. But they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree;
and none shall make them afraid: for the mouth of the LORD of hosts
hath spoken it.
5. For all people will walk every one in the name of his god, and we
will walk in the name of the LORD our God for ever and ever.
6. In that day, saith the LORD, will I assemble her that halteth, and
I will gather her that is driven out, and her that I have afflicted;
7. And I will make her that halted a remnant, and her that was cast
far off a strong nation: and the LORD shall reign over them in mount
Zion from henceforth, even for ever.
8. And thou, O tower of the flock, the strong hold of the daughter of
Zion, unto thee shall it come, even the first dominion; the kingdom
shall come to the daughter of Jerusalem.
9. Now why dost thou cry out aloud? is there no king in thee? is
thy counseller perished? for pangs have taken thee as a woman in
travail.
10. Be in pain, and labour to bring forth, O daughter of Zion, like a
woman in travail: for now shalt thou go forth out of the city, and
thou shalt dwell in the field, and thou shalt go even to Babylon;
there shalt thou be delivered; there the LORD shall redeem thee from
the hand of thine enemies.
11. Now also many nations are gathered against thee, that say, Let
her be defiled, and let our eye look upon Zion.
12. But they know not the thoughts of the LORD, neither understand
they his counsel: for he shall gather them as the sheaves into the
floor.
13. Arise and thresh, O daughter of Zion: for I will make thine
horn iron, and I will make thy hoofs brass: and thou shalt beat in
pieces many people: and I will consecrate their gain unto the LORD,
and their substance unto the Lord of the whole earth. |
Zechariah 12
1. The burden of the word of the LORD for Israel, saith the LORD,
which stretcheth forth the heavens, and layeth the foundation of the
earth, and formeth the spirit of man within him.
2. Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the
people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah
and against Jerusalem.
3. And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all
people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces,
though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.
4. In that day, saith the LORD, I will smite every horse with
astonishment, and his rider with madness: and I will open mine eyes
upon the house of Judah, and will smite every horse of the people with
blindness.
5. And the governors of Judah shall say in their heart, The
inhabitants of Jerusalem shall be my strength in the LORD of hosts
their God.
6. In that day will I make the governors of Judah like an hearth of
fire among the wood, and like a torch of fire in a sheaf; and they
shall devour all the people round about, on the right hand and on the
left: and Jerusalem shall be inhabited again in her own place, even in
Jerusalem.
7. The LORD also shall save the tents of Judah first, that the glory
of the house of David and the glory of the inhabitants of Jerusalem do
not magnify themselves against Judah.
8. In that day shall the LORD defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and
he that is feeble among them at that day shall be as David; and the
house of David shall be as God, as the angel of the LORD before them.
9. And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy
all the nations that come against Jerusalem.
10. And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants
of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall
look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as
one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as
one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.
11. In that day shall there be a great mourning in Jerusalem, as the
mourning of Hadadrimmon in the valley of Megiddon.
12. And the land shall mourn, every family apart; the family of the
house of David apart, and their wives apart; the family of the house
of Nathan apart, and their wives apart;
13. The family of the house of Levi apart, and their wives apart; the
family of Shimei apart, and their wives apart;
14. All the families that remain, every family apart, and their wives
apart. |
Ezekiel 35
1. Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
2. Son of man, set thy face against mount Seir, and prophesy against
it,
3. And say unto it, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, O mount Seir, I
am against thee, and I will stretch out mine hand against thee, and I
will make thee most desolate.
4. I will lay thy cities waste, and thou shalt be desolate, and thou
shalt know that I am the LORD.
5. Because thou hast had a perpetual hatred, and hast shed the blood
of the children of Israel by the force of the sword in the time
of their calamity, in the time that their iniquity had an end:
6. Therefore, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, I will prepare thee unto
blood, and blood shall pursue thee: sith thou hast not hated blood,
even blood shall pursue thee.
7. Thus will I make mount Seir most desolate, and cut off from it him
that passeth out and him that returneth.
8. And I will fill his mountains with his slain men: in thy hills, and
in thy valleys, and in all thy rivers, shall they fall that are slain
with the sword.
9. I will make thee perpetual desolations, and thy cities shall not
return: and ye shall know that I am the LORD.
10. Because thou hast said, These two nations and these two countries
shall be mine, and we will possess it; whereas the LORD was there:
11. Therefore, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, I will even do according
to thine anger, and according to thine envy which thou hast used out
of thy hatred against them; and I will make myself known among them,
when I have judged thee.
12. And thou shalt know that I am the LORD, and that I have heard all
thy blasphemies which thou hast spoken against the mountains of
Israel, saying, They are laid desolate, they are given us to consume.
13. Thus with your mouth ye have boasted against me, and have
multiplied your words against me: I have heard them.
14. Thus saith the Lord GOD; When the whole earth rejoiceth, I will
make thee desolate.
15. As thou didst rejoice at the inheritance of the house of Israel,
because it was desolate, so will I do unto thee: thou shalt be
desolate, O mount Seir, and all Idumea, even all of it: and they shall
know that I am the LORD. |
Genesis 36
1. Now these are the generations of Esau, who is Edom.
2. Esau took his wives of the daughters of Canaan; Adah the daughter
of Elon the Hittite, and Aholibamah the daughter of Anah the daughter
of Zibeon the Hivite;
3. And Bashemath Ishmael's daughter, sister of Nebajoth.
4. And Adah bare to Esau Eliphaz; and Bashemath bare Reuel;
5. And Aholibamah bare Jeush, and Jaalam, and Korah: these are the
sons of Esau, which were born unto him in the land of Canaan.
6. And Esau took his wives, and his sons, and his daughters, and all
the persons of his house, and his cattle, and all his beasts, and all
his substance, which he had got in the land of Canaan; and went into
the country from the face of his brother Jacob.
7. For their riches were more than that they might dwell together; and
the land wherein they were strangers could not bear them because of
their cattle.
8. Thus dwelt Esau in mount Seir: Esau is Edom.
9. And these are the generations of Esau the father of the Edomites in
mount Seir:
10. These are the names of Esau's sons; Eliphaz the son of Adah the
wife of Esau, Reuel the son of Bashemath the wife of Esau.
11. And the sons of Eliphaz were Teman, Omar, Zepho, and Gatam, and
Kenaz.
12. And Timna was concubine to Eliphaz Esau's son; and she bare to
Eliphaz Amalek: these were the sons of Adah Esau's wife.
13. And these are the sons of Reuel; Nahath, and Zerah, Shammah, and
Mizzah: these were the sons of Bashemath Esau's wife.
14. And these were the sons of Aholibamah, the daughter of Anah the
daughter of Zibeon, Esau's wife: and she bare to Esau Jeush, and
Jaalam, and Korah.
15. These were dukes of the sons of Esau: the sons of Eliphaz the
firstborn son of Esau; duke Teman, duke Omar, duke Zepho, duke Kenaz,
16. Duke Korah, duke Gatam, and duke Amalek: these are the dukes that
came of Eliphaz in the land of Edom; these were the sons of Adah.
17. And these are the sons of Reuel Esau's son; duke Nahath, duke
Zerah, duke Shammah, duke Mizzah: these are the dukes that came of
Reuel in the land of Edom; these are the sons of Bashemath Esau's
wife.
18. And these are the sons of Aholibamah Esau's wife; duke Jeush, duke
Jaalam, duke Korah: these were the dukes that came of Aholibamah the
daughter of Anah, Esau's wife.
19. These are the sons of Esau, who is Edom, and these are their
dukes.
20. These are the sons of Seir the Horite, who inhabited the land;
Lotan, and Shobal, and Zibeon, and Anah,
21. And Dishon, and Ezer, and Dishan: these are the dukes of the
Horites, the children of Seir in the land of Edom.
22. And the children of Lotan were Hori and Hemam; and Lotan's sister
was Timna.
23. And the children of Shobal were these; Alvan, and Manahath, and
Ebal, Shepho, and Onam.
24. And these are the children of Zibeon; both Ajah, and Anah: this
was that Anah that found the mules in the wilderness, as he fed the
asses of Zibeon his father.
25. And the children of Anah were these; Dishon, and Aholibamah the
daughter of Anah.
26. And these are the children of Dishon; Hemdan, and Eshban, and
Ithran, and Cheran.
27. The children of Ezer are these; Bilhan, and Zaavan, and Akan.
28. The children of Dishan are these: Uz, and Aran.
29. These are the dukes that came of the Horites; duke Lotan, duke
Shobal, duke Zibeon, duke Anah,
30. Duke Dishon, duke Ezer, duke Dishan: these are the dukes that came
of Hori, among their dukes in the land of Seir.
31. And these are the kings that reigned in the land of Edom, before
there reigned any king over the children of Israel.
32. And Bela the son of Beor reigned in Edom: and the name of his city
was Dinhabah.
33. And Bela died, and Jobab the son of Zerah of Bozrah reigned in his
stead.
34. And Jobab died, and Husham of the land of Temani reigned in his
stead.
35. And Husham died, and Hadad the son of Bedad, who smote Midian in
the field of Moab, reigned in his stead: and the name of his city was
Avith.
36. And Hadad died, and Samlah of Masrekah reigned in his stead.
37. And Samlah died, and Saul of Rehoboth by the river reigned in his
stead.
38. And Saul died, and Baal-hanan the son of Achbor reigned in his
stead.
39. And Baal-hanan the son of Achbor died, and Hadar reigned in his
stead: and the name of his city was Pau; and his wife's name was
Mehetabel, the daughter of Matred, the daughter of Mezahab.
40. And these are the names of the dukes that came of Esau, according
to their families, after their places, by their names; duke Timnah,
duke Alvah, duke Jetheth,
41. Duke Aholibamah, duke Elah, duke Pinon,
42. Duke Kenaz, duke Teman, duke Mibzar,
43. Duke Magdiel, duke Iram: these be the dukes of Edom, according
to their habitations in the land of their possession: he is Esau the
father of the Edomites. |
Ezekiel 35
4. I will lay thy cities waste, and thou shalt be desolate, and thou
shalt know that I am the LORD.
5. Because thou hast had a perpetual hatred, and hast shed the
blood of the children of Israel by the force of the sword in the
time of their calamity, in the time that their iniquity had an end:
6. Therefore, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, I will prepare thee

7. Thus will I make mount Seir most desolate, and cut off from it him
that passeth out and him that returneth.
8. And I will fill his mountains with his slain men: in thy hills, and
in thy valleys, and in all thy rivers, shall they fall that are slain
with the sword. |
Obadiah 1
1. The vision of Obadiah. Thus saith the Lord GOD concerning Edom;
We have heard a rumour from the LORD, and an ambassador is sent among
the heathen, Arise ye, and let us rise up against her in battle.
2. Behold, I have made thee small among the heathen: thou art greatly
despised.
3. The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee, thou that dwellest in
the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; that saith in his
heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground?
4. Though thou exalt thyself as the eagle, and though thou set thy
nest among the stars, thence will I bring thee down, saith the LORD.
5. If thieves came to thee, if robbers by night, (how art thou cut
off!) would they not have stolen till they had enough? if the
grapegatherers came to thee, would they not leave some grapes?
6. How are the things of Esau searched out! how are his hidden things
sought up!
7. All the men of thy confederacy have brought thee even to the
border: the men that were at peace with thee have deceived thee, and
prevailed against thee; they that eat thy bread have laid a wound
under thee: there is none understanding in him.
8. Shall I not in that day, saith the LORD, even destroy the wise men
out of Edom, and understanding out of the mount of Esau?
9. And thy mighty men, O Teman, shall be dismayed, to the end that
every one of the mount of Esau may be cut off by slaughter.
10. For thy violence against thy brother Jacob shame shall cover thee,
and thou shalt be cut off for ever.
11. In the day that thou stoodest on the other side, in the day that
the strangers carried away captive his forces, and foreigners entered
into his gates, and cast lots upon Jerusalem, even thou wast as one of
them.
12. But thou shouldest not have looked on the day of thy brother in
the day that he became a stranger; neither shouldest thou have
rejoiced over the children of Judah in the day of their destruction;
neither shouldest thou have spoken proudly in the day of distress.
13. Thou shouldest not have entered into the gate of my people in
the day of their calamity; yea, thou shouldest not have looked on
their affliction in the day of their calamity, nor have laid hands on
their substance in the day of their calamity;
14. Neither shouldest thou have stood in the crossway, to cut off
those of his that did escape; neither shouldest thou have delivered up
those of his that did remain in the day of distress.
15. For the day of the LORD is near upon all the heathen: as thou hast
done, it shall be done unto thee: thy reward shall return upon thine
own head. |
Ezekiel 35
1. Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
2. Son of man, set thy face against mount Seir, and prophesy against
it,
3. And say unto it, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, O mount Seir, I

even blood shall pursue thee.
7. Thus will I make mount Seir most desolate, and cut off from it him
that passeth out and him that returneth.
8. And I will fill his mountains with his slain men: in thy hills, and
in thy valleys, and in all thy rivers, shall they fall that are slain

10. Because thou hast said, These two nations and these two countries

12. And thou shalt know that I am the LORD, and that I have heard all
thy blasphemies which thou hast spoken against the mountains of
Israel, saying, They are laid desolate, they are given us to consume. |
| Ezekiel 36 1. Also, thou son of man,
prophesy unto the mountains of Israel, and say, Ye mountains of
Israel, hear the word of the LORD:
2. Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because the enemy hath said against you,
Aha, even the ancient high places are ours in possession:
3. Therefore prophesy and say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because
they have made you desolate, and swallowed you up on every side, that
ye might be a possession unto the residue of the heathen, and ye are
taken up in the lips of talkers, and are an infamy of the people:
4. Therefore, ye mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord GOD;
Thus saith the Lord GOD to the mountains, and to the hills, to the
rivers, and to the valleys, to the desolate wastes, and to the cities
that are forsaken, which became a prey and derision to the residue of
the heathen that are round about;
5. Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Surely in the fire of my
jealousy have I spoken against the residue of the heathen, and against
all Idumea, which have appointed my land into their possession with
the joy of all their heart, with despiteful minds, to cast it out for
a prey.
6. Prophesy therefore concerning the land of Israel, and say unto the
mountains, and to the hills, to the rivers, and to the valleys, Thus
saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I have spoken in my jealousy and in my
fury, because ye have borne the shame of the heathen: |
Ezekiel 7
1. Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
2. Also, thou son of man, thus saith the Lord GOD unto the land of
Israel; An end, the end is come upon the four corners of the land.
3. Now is the end come upon thee, and I will send mine anger upon
thee, and will judge thee according to thy ways, and will recompense
upon thee all thine abominations.
4. And mine eye shall not spare thee, neither will I have pity: but I
will recompense thy ways upon thee, and thine abominations shall be in
the midst of thee: and ye shall know that I am the LORD.
5. Thus saith the Lord GOD; An evil, an only evil, behold, is come.
6. An end is come, the end is come: it watcheth for thee; behold, it
is come.
7. The morning is come unto thee, O thou that dwellest in the land:
the time is come, the day of trouble is near, and not the sounding
again of the mountains.
8. Now will I shortly pour out my fury upon thee, and accomplish mine
anger upon thee: and I will judge thee according to thy ways, and will
recompense thee for all thine abominations.
9. And mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity: I will
recompense thee according to thy ways and thine abominations that are
in the midst of thee; and ye shall know that I am the LORD that
smiteth.
10. Behold the day, behold, it is come: the morning is gone forth; the
rod hath blossomed, pride hath budded.
11. Violence is risen up into a rod of wickedness: none of them shall
remain, nor of their multitude, nor of any of theirs: neither shall
there be wailing for them.
12. The time is come, the day draweth near: let not the buyer rejoice,
nor the seller mourn: for wrath is upon all the multitude thereof.
13. For the seller shall not return to that which is sold, although
they were yet alive: for the vision is touching the whole multitude
thereof, which shall not return; neither shall any strengthen himself
in the iniquity of his life.
14. They have blown the trumpet, even to make all ready; but none
goeth to the battle: for my wrath is upon all the multitude thereof.
15. The sword is without, and the pestilence and the famine within: he
that is in the field shall die with the sword; and he that is in the
city, famine and pestilence shall devour him.
16. But they that escape of them shall escape, and shall be on the
mountains like doves of the valleys, all of them mourning, every one
for his iniquity.
17. All hands shall be feeble, and all knees shall be weak as water.
18. They shall also gird themselves with sackcloth, and horror shall
cover them; and shame shall be upon all faces, and baldness upon all
their heads.
19. They shall cast their silver in the streets, and their gold shall
be removed: their silver and their gold shall not be able to deliver
them in the day of the wrath of the LORD: they shall not satisfy their
souls, neither fill their bowels: because it is the stumblingblock of
their iniquity.
20. As for the beauty of his ornament, he set it in majesty: but
they made the images of their abominations and of their detestable
things therein: therefore have I set it far from them.
21. And I will give it into the hands of the strangers for a prey,
and to the wicked of the earth for a spoil; and they shall pollute it.
22. My face will I turn also from them, and they shall pollute my
secret place: for the robbers shall enter into it, and defile it.
23. Make a chain: for the land is full of bloody crimes, and the
city is full of violence.
24. Wherefore I will bring the worst of the heathen, and they shall
possess their houses: I will also make the pomp of the strong to
cease; and their holy places shall be defiled.
25. Destruction cometh; and they shall seek peace, and there shall
be none.
26. Mischief shall come upon mischief, and rumour shall be upon
rumour; then shall they seek a vision of the prophet; but the law
shall perish from the priest, and counsel from the ancients.
27. The king shall mourn, and the prince shall be clothed with
desolation, and the hands of the people of the land shall be troubled:
I will do unto them after their way, and according to their deserts
will I judge them; and they shall know that I am the LORD. |
Joel 2
1. Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy
mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of
the LORD cometh, for it is nigh at hand;
2. A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick
darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a great people and
a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more
after it, even to the years of many generations.
3. A fire devoureth before them; and behind them a flame burneth: the
land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them a desolate
wilderness; yea, and nothing shall escape them.
4. The appearance of them is as the appearance of horses; and as
horsemen, so shall they run.
5. Like the noise of chariots on the tops of mountains shall they
leap, like the noise of a flame of fire that devoureth the stubble, as
a strong people set in battle array.
6. Before their face the people shall be much pained: all faces shall
gather blackness.
7. They shall run like mighty men; they shall climb the wall like men
of war; and they shall march every one on his ways, and they shall not
break their ranks:
8. Neither shall one thrust another; they shall walk every one in his
path: and when they fall upon the sword, they shall not be wounded.
9. They shall run to and fro in the city; they shall run upon the
wall, they shall climb up upon the houses; they shall enter in at the
windows like a thief.
10. The earth shall quake before them; the heavens shall tremble: the
sun and the moon shall be dark, and the stars shall withdraw their
shining:
11. And the LORD shall utter his voice before his army: for his camp
is very great: for he is strong that executeth his word: for the day
of the LORD is great and very terrible; and who can abide it?
12. Therefore also now, saith the LORD, turn ye even to me with all
your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning:
13. And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the LORD
your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great
kindness, and repenteth him of the evil.
14. Who knoweth if he will return and repent, and leave a blessing
behind him; even a meat offering and a drink offering unto the LORD
your God?
15. Blow the trumpet in Zion, sanctify a fast, call a solemn
assembly:
16. Gather the people, sanctify the congregation, assemble the elders,
gather the children, and those that suck the breasts: let the
bridegroom go forth of his chamber, and the bride out of her closet.
17. Let the priests, the ministers of the LORD, weep between the porch
and the altar, and let them say,
Spare thy people, O LORD, and
give not thine
heritage to reproach, that the heathen should rule over them:
wherefore should they say among the people, Where is their God?
18. Then will the LORD be jealous for his land, and pity his people.
19. Yea, the LORD will answer and say unto his people, Behold, I will
send you corn, and wine, and oil, and ye shall be satisfied therewith:
and I will no more make you a reproach among the heathen:
20. But I will remove far off from you the northern army, and will
drive him into a land barren and desolate, with his face toward the
east sea, and his hinder part toward the utmost sea, and his stink
shall come up, and his ill savour shall come up, because he hath done
great things.
21. Fear not, O land; be glad and rejoice: for the LORD will do great
things.
22. Be not afraid, ye beasts of the field: for the pastures of the
wilderness do spring, for the tree beareth her fruit, the fig tree and
the vine do yield their strength.
23. Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the LORD your
God: for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will
cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter
rain in the first month.
24. And the floors shall be full of wheat, and the fats shall overflow
with wine and oil.
25. And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten,
the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army
which I sent among you.
26. And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name
of the LORD your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and my
people shall never be ashamed.
27. And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am
the LORD your God, and none else: and my people shall never be
ashamed.
28. And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my
spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall
prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see
visions:
29. And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days
will I pour out my spirit.
30. And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood,
and fire, and pillars of smoke.
31. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood,
before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come.
32. And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name
of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem
shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom
the LORD shall call. |
