Who is the Revelator? John or Jesus? The title says, "The Revelation of St. John", but the very first verse says "The Revelation of Jesus Christ."
It's been labeled this way for almost four hundred years! Why isn't the title, "The Revelation of Jesus Christ? or "The Revelation of Jesus Christ to John?"
Page titles are like a footnotes -
not inspired. But verse one is inspired.

So, "What is the point?" you ask.
When reading Revelation, when it reads "I saw" it is talking about what John
saw. When Revelation says "I will do such and so". It is Jesus who is
speaking through his angel.

Revelation 1 1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, (Jesus) to shew unto his servants (Christians) things which must shortly come to pass; (the future) and he (Jesus) sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John: God >> Jesus Christ >> Jesus' angel >> John >> to Jesus' servants Revelation 22 1 And he (Jesus angel) shewed me (John) a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. Revelation 2 25 But that which ye have already hold fast till I (Jesus speaking) come. 26 And he (someone else - not Jesus) that overcometh, and keepeth my (Jesus) works unto the end, to him (not Jesus) will I (Jesus) give power over the nations: 27 And he (him - but not Jesus) shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I (Jesus) received of my Father. (The chain of command. He/him rules under Jesus who rules under Father) 28 And I (Jesus) will give him the morning star. "My father (v 27) gives to Jesus who gives to "him". Question: Who gets the morning star. Answer: 'Him' |
1. Revelation is about the future - not the past
2. "him" and Jesus are two different persons.
